After 1936 and 1937, Gino Bartali succeed at Giro d’Italia for the third time in 1946. It was his last overal victory.
The 29th Giro d’Italia (between 15 June and 7 uly 1946) was the first after the end of World War II.
Unlike during the previous ocasions , this time Gino Bartali did not won a single stage. He took the pink jersey five days before the end of the race.
Bartali participated the race also in the next eight years, he secured himself a second position for three times (1947, 1949,1950).
