    The 7th Giro d'Italia (21 May -June 8 1919) was won by Costante Girardengo. This was the first overal Giro victory of the first Campionissimo.

    66 cyclists started and 15 finished the race.

    Oscar Egg became the first Swiss rider to win a Giro stage.

    The '"eternal second" Gaetano Belloni won his first stage at this Giro.

    Marcell Buysse became the first non-Italian cyclist to stand on the  podium (3rd place ij overall) at the end of the race.
